2018/19 has been unusually dry and warm I have installed large new drains around the tunnels and a new pathway. Global warming is getting worse!
A very mild Autumn and Winter so far means that many species and hybrids are starting to flower already way to early if we get a hard cold spell which will damage some blooms. They all came through UNSCATHED!!!! The 2 collections are near full bloom and looking good with many new specimens
The mildness and wetness means that slugs, snails and mice are thriving and casing issues to some early flower buds! I am taking as many control measures as is practicable .
If the weather continues in this vein then viewing should be good from mid- February onwards - BUT AS EVER PLEASE RING TO CHECK.
We have many new examples of species raised from seed now flowering for the first time and of course many new hybrids of our own breeding too so plenty to see. Many Sales plants are still not in flower due to the prolonged sub zero temperatures and later visitors may see more for sale(remember there is a 3 year time lag from seed to sale)
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON HAPPY NEW HELLEBORE YEAR TO ADDICTS EVERYWHERE !
